The International Business Leaders Forum just announced a new set of criteria dealing with human rights. The initiative is called the Voluntary Principles:
The Voluntary Principles aim to maintain the safety and security of extractive operations, whilst ensuring that human rights and fundamental freedoms are respected.
This was also discussed at part of the IFC’s Community of Learning Event in May. Control Risks conducted a presentation on Security and Human Rights; the powerpoint is online.
